I was horrified to learn that experimenters at the University of Stirling conducted 9,209 procedures on fish in 2015.

Every one of these animals was a unique individual with the capacity to feel pain and fear, and they undoubtedly suffered tremendously during the procedures performed on them at the University of Stirling.

A range of non-animal alternatives are available, including in vitro methods using human cells and tissues as well as advanced computer-modelling techniques. Not only are these more humane than tests on animals, they're also more reliable and precise and can be more cost-effective.

As one of the top universities in the UK, the University of Stirling has a responsibility to lead the way in ethical research. I therefore urge you to move away from inflicting pain and suffering on animals and to invest more in modern, pioneering, animal-free research methods.
