The government pledged to phase out testing on animals, but without allowing input from those who speak for animals, this promise risks falling flat. Animal protection organisations like PETA, which tirelessly advocate for animals in laboratories, have not been sufficiently consulted in shaping the path forward. We cannot allow animals to continue suffering in horrific experiments. Please act now to help end the torment of animals in laboratories by urging the government to work more closely with animal protection groups.

The Labour Party’s Pledge to Animals
The party’s manifesto pledges to work towards phasing out testing on animals and to “partner with scientists, industry, and civil society” to reach this goal.
Despite promises, those responsible for developing the roadmap have not openly and directly engaged with key animal protection groups to create a roadmap to end experiments on animals. This silence delays progress, ignores expert knowledge, and leaves millions of animals suffering.
A Life of Imprisonment and Torture
Experimenters subject living, feeling beings to almost unbearable physical and psychological suffering. In the UK, dogs are force-fed pesticides, fish are poisoned with chemicals, and experimenters inflict brain injuries on mice before decapitating them. Thousands of other animals are poisoned, deliberately infected, paralysed, or electrocuted.
PETA documented that, right here in the UK, experimenters are permitted to inject drugs into rabbits’ eyes. Their tears are collected for analysis before they are killed and dissected. Over 2.6 million procedures were carried out on animals in 2023 in Britain – this must end.
PETA’s Research Modernisation Deal
The Labour Party must develop a roadmap to end all experiments on animals, and PETA scientists have already devised a comprehensive plan that policymakers can follow. Our groundbreaking Research Modernisation Deal provides a clear six-point strategy, including increasing funds for the development of non-animal methods, to assist the government in achieving its goal.
