Urge Your MP to Support a Trophy Hunting Imports Ban

Update (22 March 2024): Importing hunting trophies may soon be banned in the UK! Today, MPs voted in favour of the Hunting Trophies (Import Prohibition) Bill during its second reading in Parliament. We will keep you posted with further updates as the bill passes through the next stages of the legislative process. Meanwhile, please use the form below to urge your MP to support it until it becomes law.

Original post (13 February 2024):

All animals have unique personalities and want to live, just as humans do, but to hunters, they’re merely target practice – “things” to kill, decapitate, and display on a wall.

The UK could deter hunters from killing animals abroad by banning imports of hunting trophies, thereby preventing people from bringing their sick souvenirs home. We now have another opportunity to take a step towards this goal. Please urge your MP and select members of the House of Lords to support the Hunting Trophies (Import Prohibition) Bill. The peers cc’d in the below e-mail to your MP prevented the last iteration of the bill from passing into law by putting down over 60 amendments to it and demanding they be dealt with individually, causing the bill to run out of time in the last parliamentary session. Don’t let this happen again! Tell your MP and these members of the House of Lords to support the bill.

Killing Elephants, Giraffes, and Other Animals for Thrills

Wild animals just want to be left in peace, but trophy hunters – who lack empathy, compassion, and respect for these living, feeling beings – get a sick thrill out of taking their lives.

Trophy hunters are willing to pay thousands of pounds to travel the world just to kill. Often, their victims are trapped in a fenced compound or private game reserve or are lured with bait from the safety of a national park into the awaiting shooter’s path. Some who facilitate this blood sport track down animals for a fee. It isn’t uncommon for them to encounter sleeping animals, who may be shot at extremely close range.

Brits Don’t Support This Cruel Activity

Polls show that eight out of 10 people in the UK want to see an end to this horrific, immoral activity, because they know that animals shot by trophy hunters often endure a slow, agonising death – simply so that hunters can chop off their heads and other body parts and ship them back home as trophies.

Take Action

Help deter sadistic hunters from killing animals by taking action to prevent them from bringing their “trophies” home – urge your MP and select members of the House of Lords to support the Hunting Trophies (Import Prohibition) Bill.
