Urge Jet2holidays to Cut Ties With Dolphin Prisons

Major UK travel companies have done right by animals by cutting ties with facilities that exploit captive orcas and other dolphins – and Jet2holidays must get with the times and follow suit. The travel company must realise that promoting and selling tickets to marine abusement parks that hold animals captive for decades in cramped tanks with chemically treated water is propping up this cruel industry.

See the Individual Suffering

Like humans, many orcas in the ocean stay with their families for life and even pull playful pranks. In nature, they form complex relationships, work cooperatively to find food, and can traverse up to 150 miles of ocean every day.

However, those held captive in marine parks are separated from their family and held in cramped tanks in incompatible groups. Some may suffer bullying and attacks from other frustrated orcas.

The majority spend decades in a prison around 10,000 times smaller than their natural home range and filled with chemically treated water. They’re forced to perform confusing tricks for tourists, and the majority die far short of their natural life expectancy.

Empty the Tanks

The UK hasn’t had these cruel attractions since the 1990s, and Belgium, Canada, France, Croatia, Cyprus, and India have banned cetacean captivity. Airbnb, British Airways Holidays, Your Co-op Travel, Virgin Atlantic Holidays, and many others refuse to promote marine parks. It’s time Jet2holidays joined them.
